A very enjoyable and entertaining pre-season game today against a very good DLFC team who were playing a year up in the second half of last season after winning the league in the first half. They have also retained majority of their squad.

We asked the boys to start taking more responsibility today for their own positioning and communicating with their team mates on the pitch, this is something that will be a feature this season. We also asked the boys to work hard for each other and they delivered.

In our last training session we worked on defending our own area and being first to the ball, it was great to see that in practice today with some great team defending.

Both teams played some great football today and it could be argued a draw was a fair result. We almost snatched it near the end after a great run and shot from Theo was saved brilliantly by the opposition keeper. Alas it was not to be and we conceded 2 goals in the last 2 minutes as we pushed for a winner.

The boys can take a lot of pride from that performance though, they did exactly what was asked of them. Every season we lay down new challenges to the boys and inevitably we may see a dip in performances/results while we work at it but we didn’t see that today.

It is a privilege to work with these boys who turn up every week prepared to listen, learn and work hard for each other.
