⚽️⚽️Tournament report⚽️⚽️
Date 13th July 2025
Robin Hood Colts tournament.
Our second tournament of the summer and our confidence was high given the great performance of the last one.
A nice summers day which fortunately wasn’t too hot, a gazebo throwing us some shade and great support from our families stood us in good stead for today’s football adventure.
A tough group on paper but knowing our team nothing was ever going to be impossible.
A fast start to our first game against a very nice walesby team gave us a 3-0 win with goals from Freya and 2 from Sebastian. Second game we played against teversal. A very even affair with chances for both teams. 0-0 seemed a fair result.
Our third game was against our own in Fordy and he showed us why he is part of our family aswel as Robin Hood Colts with a good little finish. Sebastian drew us level and once more we had chances to put the game away which seemed to be super crucial on a day where 3 out of the 5 teams could have finished on the same points with Woodhouse(boooo) dominating other games. 1-1 that finished and our final game against Woodhouse was upon us.
These guys were well up for this and it showed with our passion, desire and overall play. Woodhouse had one shot and scored but we didn’t give up and got an equaliser from our newest recruit Isaac to draw level. This is how it finished (1-1) and that saw us through.
Not for want of the organisers trying to convince us that we finished on equal points with two other teams and we needed to go into a 3 way penalty shootout (that would have been something special to watch ?)
With the mix up rectified we went into the semi final against the winners of the alternate league and wow that was an interesting one for sure. Poor attitude from players, coaches and parents throughout from the Sherwood Colliery team put a bad taste in the mouth and due to this we ran out losing 2-0.
I think less said about the final which ended in being abandoned due to Woodhouse and Sherwood Colliery “issues” just summed things up.
I’m so proud of our team, the attitude from all of us and the way that we present ourselves. Even through tough matches, poor behaviour and others attitude we still keep going and show how football should be played and in the family spirit that we embody. Well done team.
Although we didn’t come home with a trophy the guys were amazing. Some fantastic hardwork, commitment, passages of play where we really opened up teams, our defensive shape and overall compact positioning made us a very tough outfit to break down.
Wanted to say a big thanks to George for coming and helping (Elaine we need to keep on and get him playing ?) he was a great addition.
I could go on for ages with accolades of each of the players. They’ve showed me the standard they can set now and we can always keep developing and moving forward. Exciting to see what we can achieve.
Have a fab rest of the day.
