⚽️⚽️Match report ⚽️⚽️
Sat 17th Jan (A)
Mapperley all stars 3-4 Ravenshead
It seems like forever since we last played and clinched last seasons mini league championship.
Thankfully we were back and I think after a fantastic training game the other night we were slightly more ready to take on whatever today could throw at us.
A mild but slightly boggy pitch and a well matched opposition was our challenge.
The first half was a cagey affair and there were chances to both sides with our guys I believe playing more football and creating the chances. This led to us taking a deserved lead just before half time via a Sebastian strike and flick off their defender. We went into the break with a lead and spirits were high.
The second half began and what seemed to be against the run of play they equalised (1-1). This was quickly followed by a second when we switched off (2-1). The guys heads didn’t drop and with some determination from Fordy he battled their defenders and slotted home a nice little finish (2-2).
More good passages of play, playing from back to front allowed us to get in down the line with Harry who crossed the ball for Fordy who slipped it to Maxwell who rolled it home (3-2).
Nearing the end of the game but still putting in great effort and creating chances we got a 4th where some quick passing and a through ball from Fordy to Sebastian allowed him to run through and side foot finished passed the keeper. (4-2) this put the game to bed even with them getting a late goal (4-3)
Great performances all over the pitch today from every player. It was amazing to see the are still a strong team and every player has their role.
Player of the match went to Maxwell. The birthday boy even on no sleep ran hard, was part of a number of great passing moves and slotted home to top things off.
Coaches player once more was difficult but stand out performance from Lucas. Not much more to say apart from he was all over and no one was going to get passed him today.
As always I’m so proud of the team and their unity. It’s a pleasure to be part of.
Thank you as always for the fab support. Have a great weekend
