The boys had a step up in opposition today as the league moved us up to Level 2 after winning our previous 3 games. However the lads didn't find it a problem and won convincingly in the end.

Bottesford took the lead when we scored an own goal from their corner, nothing much we could have done win it. The lads didn't let their heads drop and equalised when we played some good football from the back and played the ball through to Loxley who finished first time past the keeper into the bottom corner. However Bottesford re-took the lead when they managed to finish into the bottom corner to make it 2-1 to them at the end of that quarter.

At the break we asked the lads to step it up a bit and move the ball quicker and after that first quarter we were never in danger for the rest of the game. In the second quarter we worked harder and never gave them chance to get out. Noah and Ethan worked hard in the midfield to stop their players running through and we equalised when Loxley was bought down in the box and he stepped up to score the penalty.

Half Time: 2-2

At the start of the second half we continued to push them and work hard, Che and Noah in midfield continued to work hard and create chances. On another day both Noah and Che could have scored a few themselves but the work rate is what separated the teams. For the second quarter in a row we didn't concede a goal, great work from Harrison in defence and Jackson in goal to keep them out. We went ahead in this quarter through a great strikers finish from Loxley to complete his hattrick (20 goals in 7 games).

Just like the previous 2 quarters, we dominated and should have scored more. Noah worked tirelessly up front in this quarter and had a few chances at goal. Che also had a few great efforts, that on another day go in. We did manage to get one in this quarter when Ethan got forward and finished well to put us 4-2 up. We continued to push, with Harrison making some great runs from the back but his effort went narrowly past the post.

Full Time: 4-2 to Ravenshead Reds.

A good game today. Some good battling, some good football but we definitely had a few levels we could have gone to today if we needed it. Certainly not a 10/10 performance but the lads did what they needed to today. One thing we worked on in training this week was our goal kicks and getting the ball from our goal and through their press without losing it and Jackson, Harrison and Ethan all listened to what was asked of them in training which was pleasing from a coaching point of view. Also, not conceding a goal for 3 out of the 4 quarters was great to see as well.

Goal Scorers:
Loxley x 3
Ethan x 1

Player of the Match:
Loxley - Another great hattrick to win us the game today and his work rate to get back and help was also vitally important.

The lads continue to develop and are looking very hard to beat which is great. As a team, they all work and battle for each other, which we'll need more of as we step up in levels.

Lets see where the YEL take us next!

You Reds.
