The girls were all excellent today with a great battling team performance against the strongest team in our division.

We started with a new system today in the first half with both Emilia and Evie playing as wing backs to try and nullify their wingers and it worked brilliantly, both girls played amazingly in a role they're not used to. We worked hard in the first half and put some great challenges in to try and stop them playing. Both Isla and Robyn in midfield were brilliant at putting their big, strong midfielders under pressure and Eloise at the back made countless blocks and clearances to stop them getting to goal. We hit the opposition on the counter attack on a few occasions with Darcey running in behind but couldn't get the goal to put us ahead. Bagthorpe did take the lead in the first half when a hopeful shot narrowly went over Sofia's attempt to keep it out. Although we went in at half time 1-0 down, we were very much in the game.

We then changed our system in the second half and tried to come out more attacking. Again the girls never stopped running and never stopped trying. We had a few chances on goal in this half with Nevie running in behind and testing the keeper and Lily doing amazingly to get through their defence and smashing a shot narrowly wide. Bagthorpe were a danger on the counter though as we tried to push for an equaliser but Sofia made an excellent save low into the corner to keep them out. As we continued to push, they did manage to get a second at the end of the game make it 2-0.

Full time: 2-0 to Bagthorpe

Player of the match:
Everyone - Honestly I couldn't pick a single player over anyone else today. It was a proper team performance, everyone did their job and played their part today. Again it's another game without a win but the girls are growing, learning and performing well each week. The girls are a proper team now and it was great to see them do exactly what we asked them to do in training. Amazing!
