The girls ended 2024 with a huge away win and our first clean sheet since the opening game.

It was hard throughout with Shirebrook playing some great football at times. We had to ride our luck, work hard and dig deep but the girls did exactly that and managed to get a great win.

The first half was hard with the conditions and pitch against us, but we played well and battled hard. Hollie, Nancy and Sofia had to keep their concentration but they played very well in that first half to keep Shirebrook out. Emilia and Lacey worked incredibly hard on the wings as well to neutralise their wingers. We didn't create too much going forward in that first half but we knew if we kept it tight, that we would get our chances.

In the second half, it was our chance to make use of the favourable conditions and we pressed hard to put Shirebrook under pressure. We took the lead when Robyn ran through on goal and managed to poke the ball past the Shirebrook goalkeeper for her first goal for the club! We then settled down and managed to have a good amount of possession and game time in the Shirebrook half. Shirebrook did hit us on the counter attack though and should have equalised but they somehow missed an open goal from 6 yards out (Luck was definitely on our side). After that, there was only going to be one winner. Mia hit a great shot from 20 yards out which narrowly missed the top corner and hit the side netting and towards the end of the game Nevie had a great chance one on one and did really well to go round the keeper but her effort went wide.

Lacey - She worked her socks off both on the wing in the first half and in centre midfield in the second half. She caused constant problems when running at the opposition with the ball!

It was a great win! I'm so proud of this group of girls, the attitude, desire, work rate and teamwork is excellent and they're growing in confidence with each game they play.
